How your Vaultlix number works
Vaultlix guide · Updated 17 September 2026
The short version: your Vaultlix number is a permanent, system-generated number that identifies your Vaultlix account. You share it instead of your phone number. It works only inside Vaultlix: it is not a cellular number and cannot receive SMS or ordinary calls.
What a Vaultlix number is
When you create your account, you choose the username people will see and Vaultlix gives you a permanent number. That number is your identity in Vaultlix:
- People use your exact Vaultlix number to send you a connection request.
- You use your Vaultlix number and password to sign in.
- No phone number, email address, contact list or real name is attached to it.
What it isn't
- Not a phone line. Vaultlix is not a cellular number. It can't receive SMS or ordinary calls, and it can't call regular phones.
- Not for verification codes. Because it can't receive SMS, it won't work for sign-up or one-time codes from other apps and websites.
- Not searchable. Vaultlix does not search contacts or suggest people, so your number isn't listed anywhere.
Getting your number
- Open vaultlix.com and choose Create my number.
- Choose your username and a password.
- Save your recovery details somewhere outside your device.
Sharing it
Give someone your exact Vaultlix number, or share your link in the form vaultlix.com/your-number. When they open it, they see your chosen display name and can send you a request to connect privately.
Share it only when the moment feels right: with a new date, a buyer or seller, or a client you want to keep separate from your personal line.
Who can reach you
- Only someone with your exact number can send you a request.
- A conversation appears only after you accept.
- Conversations are one-to-one, and either person can erase a conversation for both.
- If someone misuses your number, use Report and block.
Keeping your number safe
- Password and recovery code. Your password and recovery code belong to you. Keep them outside your device: losing both your device and your recovery code permanently loses your Vaultlix number.
- App Lock. Protect Vaultlix with a passcode separate from your phone's passcode. Vaultlix cannot recover this passcode, so choose one you'll remember.
- Quick Lock and Emergency Exit. Hide the active conversation immediately, or remove conversation access through a deliberate, confirmed action.
Common questions
Can I call or text normal phone numbers?
No. Vaultlix numbers connect Vaultlix users to each other. The person you talk to needs Vaultlix too.
Is my Vaultlix number linked to my phone number?
No. Vaultlix doesn't collect your phone number, email address or contacts.
Are my conversations private?
Messages are end-to-end encrypted, and call media is encrypted between participant devices. The Privacy Policy explains exactly what Vaultlix stores.
